Innovative Drug Delivery Systems for Drug-Resistant Breast Cancer
摘要
Breast cancer is the most common and one of the deadliest cancers affecting women worldwide. The mainstay treatment for breast cancer is surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy or radiotherapy. The management of BC is commonly challenged by factors such as recurrence which is a poor prognostic factor and chemoresistance. These factors impact negatively on patients’ survival due to their association with increased risk of mortality. The chapter will concentrate on the creation and use of cutting-edge drug delivery technologies to combat breast cancer treatment resistance. Drug resistance poses a significant challenge in breast cancer treatment, and innovative delivery systems offer potential solutions. The chapter explores various approaches, including nanocarriers, liposomes, polymeric micelles, and targeted nanoparticles, which enhance drug delivery and improve therapeutic efficacy. These systems can overcome drug efflux mechanisms, penetrate tumor tissues, and precisely target cancer cells. By utilizing innovative drug delivery systems, researchers aim to overcome drug resistance, improve treatment outcomes, and provide new therapeutic opportunities for patients with breast cancer lesions that are drug resistant.
