Significant Risk Medical Devices – Orthopedics and Restorative
摘要
Numerous problems involving the musculoskeletal system are covered by the medical discipline of orthopaedics. The majority of orthopaedic operations don’t include invasive procedures, despite being referred to as a sort of surgery in medical circles. Orthopaedic implants are used to repair fractured bones and joints so that they are once again strong and functional. For the purpose of producing secure implants with a long lifespan and no risk of rejection, the biomaterials must possess the appropriate mechanical properties, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, biocompatibility, and occasionally osseointegration. Implant failure could result from the immune system’s hypersensitive response to metal ions released from metallic implants into the surrounding tissues. Therefore, while creating new metallic implants, it is best to use non-toxic materials as alloying agents.
