Significant Risk Medical Devices – Ophthalmics
摘要
Ophthalmic devices are medical equipment designed for diagnosis, surgery, and vision correction. Some of the many great examples of disruptive innovation in the ophthalmology market include intraocular lenses (IOLs), LASIK, phacoemulsification, laser cataract surgery, extended depth of focus lenses, multifocal IOLs, biometry, and more. Technological advances in ophthalmology are leading to new methods of patient care. Among the most promising technological developments in ophthalmology are the use of a biocompatible intraocular lens implanted in an eye, novel drug-delivery systems that target specific cells in the eye and reduce the side effects of traditional delivery methods, and new diagnostic tools based on deep-learning algorithms to accurately detect and diagnose eye diseases.
