摘要

Neurology is a specialized field of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the nervous system. Over the past few years, there has been a growing demand for medical devices that can help in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders. However, these devices also carry significant risks that need to be carefully managed by healthcare professionals. This chapter deals with the various medical devices under neurology – namely, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) devices, hydrocephalus shunts, implanted intracerebral/subcortical stimulators, implanted intracranial pressure monitors, implanted spinal cord and nerve stimulators and electrodes, neurological catheters, transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation (TENS) devices, and Transcranial Dopplers – their parts, advantages, and future implications. To ensure the safe and effective use of these devices, healthcare professionals must have a thorough understanding of the risks associated with significant risk medical devices in neurology. This may involve appropriate patient selection, implantation techniques, and ongoing monitoring of patients with implanted devices. An in-depth understanding of the risks and benefits of these devices is crucial for providing optimal care to patients with neurological disorders.
