Hospitality Management Education

The hotel managers responsible for meeting tomorrow’s challenges are the hospitality management students of today. How well they are prepared to meet these challenges depends on the quality of the hospitality management curriculum and the educators who deliver it. The study of hospitality management has become an established part of higher education (HE), but the question of whether hospitality is a worthwhile area for study still lingers. This chapter investigates the role and contribution of Hospitality Education in hotel management. Specific areas like curriculum development, quality, internationalisation, and use of technology are discussed. In addition, the role of internships as an integral part of the hospitality curricula is also investigated.
