This chapter aims to provide critical insights into the nature of managerial work by exploring management approaches and practices from ancient to modern times. This is a necessary step for developing a deeper understanding of managerial work in hotels. The focus is on studies in the post-WWII era that shaped management and managerial work as we know them today.
