Feasibility (or How to Meet Requirements)

This chapter is focused on the existence and calculus of solutions for linear systems of equations and inequalities as well as on their solutions sets, namely, linear manifolds and polyhedra. It provides intuitive introductions to elimination and alternating projection methods for equations and inequalities and the ellipsoid method. The applications included in this chapter deal with health policies to address pandemics, location of hospitals, design of underground lines respecting the architectural heritage, macroeconomic planning, recruitment policies and logistic decision making for the Armed Forces.
