Genetics and Genomics of Obesity and Lung Diseases

Both obesity and several respiratory diseases have significant hereditary components. Moreover, in theory, changes in gene regulation and expression caused by obesity could modify the risk of developing different lung disorders. Using asthma as the main example, this chapter reviews genetic and genomic evidence of the association between obesity and different complex lung pathologies.
