Bugia and the Encounter with Arab Mathematics

This chapter recounts the life of Fibonacci in Bugia; during his stay Fibonacci learned Arabic, studied mathematics, and traveled throughout North Africa. His encounters and especially his visit to the apiaries for which Bugia was well known will play an important role in his first important work, Liber Abaci.
