The Lives of Constance Antonina Boyle
摘要
This chapter details what is known of Nina Boyle’s life outside of her writing and her campaigning and it explores her transition from campaigner to writer once the vote was won. It details her exploits in the First World War, her dealings with the legal system as a militant suffragette and her first forays into the world of politics post-enfranchisement as well as discussing some of the disappointments that figure in the movement faced once franchise was secured, particularly as these relate to Boyle’s fiction. This chapter also begins to detail the intertextual nature of Boyle’s work as explored further in subsequent chapters.
