Identifying the Learning Needs of Class Teachers in Primary and Secondary Schools in the Slovak Republic: Results of a Pilot Research

The authors present the conceptual and methodological background of a sample survey aimed at identifying the educational needs of class teachers at the secondary level (ISCED 2; ISCED 3) of education in Slovakia. The results of the main phase of the sample survey will be the basis for the design of the content of the Classroom Management course and the related textbook and web portal. The paper summarizes the results of the pilot testing of the developed measurement instrument, the purpose of which was to assess its reliability and to identify suspect items through reliability/item analysis. The overall reliability of the questionnaire was calculated using Cronbach alpha, standardized reliability coefficient and correlation. The results obtained show the high internal consistency of the developed measurement instrument and guarantee a trustworthy research data collection, which will be followed.
