Student Academic Cheating at Technical University
摘要
Student academic cheating has been researched from different aspects in most HE institutions as shown in our research review. The aim of our study was to provide and analyze the data on technical university cheating, to investigate the overall frequency, methods and the motivation to cheat/not cheat of students. We were also interested to find out what motives are declared “excusable”/“inexcusable” and in specifying the role of teacher. A total of 360 students participated in our research, data collection was carried out in January 2022. Academic cheating resulted a common phenomenon among students of all faculties, 95% of students declared to have cheated at least once. Students found various ways of misusing their smartphones. Dominant motive for cheating was to avoid “unvaluable courses” “which were not taught properly”. The most “excusable” motives for cheating were attributed to “low didactic skills of teachers”.
