Challenges of Technical Training and Technical Teacher Training in Africa

The countries of the Sub-Saharan Africa are nowadays in the center of the world's attention, parallel to the growing interest in global energy needs and sustainability and international trade. The study reviews the situation and challenges of technical teacher training, and its current processes, relying on literary sources, reports, research, news portals, and own prior knowledge and on-site information gathering. We examine the collected data with a qualitative text/content analysis, and by grouping and text comparison, we look for focal points that appear widely and generally in relation to African countries. The author is a cultural anthropologist and African researcher. Building on this expertise and the author's previous field experience. The study primarily brings examples from the East African region, but also examines other regions as a whole, and the findings also take other countries into account. It places the questions and problems discussed in the sources in sociocultural and economic contexts and looks for and presents examples of strategies and programs designed to solve the problems. It outlines the current trends in technical training and technical teacher training, the importance of measures to promote interest in teacher training, the hindering factors and alternative solutions.
