Ethical and Legal Aspects of Data Science

This chapter discusses ethical and legal aspects of data science. There has been a phenomenal growth in the use of digital data with vast amounts of data collected, processed and used, and so the ethics of data science has become important. It aims to investigate what is fair and ethical in data science, and what should or should not be done with data. We discuss ethical problems of privacy that arise in social media, the Internet of Things, AI and facial recognition, and the legal aspects of privacy.
