Intelligent Bugs Mapping and Wiping (iBMW): An Affordable Robot-Driven Robot for Farmers
摘要
This chapter presents an innovative solution, the Intelligent Bugs Mapping and Wiping (iBMW) system, designed as an affordable robot-driven robot for farmers. The chapter commences with an introduction, highlighting the critical need for intelligent and cost-effective pest management solutions in agriculture. Existing solutions in the field are discussed, providing context for the development of iBMW. The chapter then delves into the innovation brought by iBMW, detailing its cognitive capabilities for pest population mapping and wiping. Integration of TurtleBot 3 as the “brain”, real-time vision processing, and optimal path planning are outlined as key features. Ethical, cultural, and legal considerations in deploying iBMW are addressed, recognizing the importance of responsible technological implementation. Measuring success is a key focus, with criteria such as the temporal and spatial distribution of pest populations, pesticide usage reduction, and the impact on almond yield highlighted. The chapter concludes with a summary, emphasizing the importance of iBMW in revolutionizing pest management practices for farmers.
