Things to Take into Consideration in Injection and Aspiration
摘要
There are many different methods for injection and aspiration within the medical field. There is currently a wide range of indications for these procedures, everything from spinal injections to injections of neurotoxins and fillers. Aspirations can, for example, be performed as a symptom relieving procedure or for a diagnostic purpose. With so many available treatment options, the importance of choosing individual treatment for every patient is the key to success. Knowledge of previous medical history, including current medication and medical allergies, lowers the risk of adverse effects. It is uncommon for patients treated with anticoagulation medicines to have bleeding problems after injections or aspiration. This chapter summarizes the necessary preparation and treatment principles for superficial injections as well as intra-articular injection. Furthermore, the procedure of performing an injection or aspiration is described in a step-by-step manner.
