A Review of Spatial Analysis Techniques Used for LULC Change Detection Over Delhi NCR in the Past Two Decades

Land Use and Land Cover change detection is important in understanding the dynamics of urban growth and environmental transformation. The Delhi National Capital Region (NCR), comprising Delhi and its surrounding urban areas, has experienced rapid urbanization and population growth over the past two decades. This study aims to review the geospatial techniques used for Land Use Land Cover change detection for the Delhi NCR region over the past two decades. The study draws on a wide range of literature to examine the regional and temporal differences in land use, as well as the various approaches employed. The results show that the urban and built-up areas have increased. The study has highlighted the use of spatial autocorrelation for statistical analysis of urban cover in the selected time. This study can help policymakers construct an overview of changes in land use patterns across the region to govern future development activities. This research can contribute to a better understanding of complex interactions between human activities and the environment in rapidly urbanizing metropolitan cities.
