Dialysis Interventions
摘要
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is very prevalent in North America, predominantly due to diabetes, hypertension, and advancing age. Although only a small percentage of CKD patients progress to renal replacement therapy by means of hemodialysis, this affects a large number of Americans. As there is no ideal means for hemodialysis, a multidisciplinary approach to individualized patient care is imperative. Collaboration between nephrologists, vascular surgeons, and interventional radiologists is necessary for proper patient assessment, surveillance, and maintenance of hemodialysis access.
