摘要

Deep venous thromboembolism (DVT) affects up to 900,000 patients per year in the United States with high rates of mortality and morbidity. Furthermore, more than one-third of patients will have debilitating long-term complications manifesting as post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS). Depending on the acuity of the disease, there is a spectrum of pathophysiological manifestation, clinical presentation, and treatment options. This chapter highlights the pathophysiology of acute and chronic obstructive venous disease and clinical indications. The most up-to-date treatment options, including medical and interventional, are also discussed.
