Friends, Adorations, and Obligations
摘要
The lives of top-level specialists take unexpected turns. Carus did not expect in 1827 to be appointed to the court of the new king of Sachsen. Of course, he had established a stellar reputation in Dresden in the previous decade, but this new role was still a surprise. This chapter outlines Carus’ friendship networks in Dresden with a special focus on the correspondence with Goethe and interchanges with Ludwig Tieck and Casar David Friedrich.
