Fake news as a social problem emerged in the twentieth century. Recent political events indicate that the problem is getting more and more acute. The question ‘what is fake news’ cannot be answered unequivocally and should not be taken seriously. Whether you believe a piece of information or not will ultimately boil down to trusting the source. You build the trust of the source by relating the source to your personal experience and to your values. However, your own experience cannot always be trusted. The concept of truth is a very complicated one. The idea of ‘fake news’ relates to ‘lying’. Lying cannot be stopped.
