Application of Flower Wastes to Produce Valuable Products

Since the beginning, people have used flowers for business, medicine, worship, celebration, decoration, and other purposes. India has diverse religions, where honouring the gods is a way of life and numerous gifts, including flower tributes, are made. As a result, the temple rubbish has an unusually large amount of flower garbage. Flowers and other garbage that have served their purpose are disposed of in the trash or dumped into rivers, seas, or oceans, resulting in several environmental problems. Temples frequently offer flowers such as marigold, rose, guldavari, lotus, periwinkle, jasmine, chrysanthemum, and hibiscus. Using the right technology, the waste produced by flowers can be turned into a useful product. It is crucial to choose the optimal technology for this purpose. By using these waste materials, handmade paper can also be produced. This review focuses on a crucial way that floral wastes can be used to combat energy shortages and environmental pollution. In 2021–22, India’s floriculture exports totalled 103.47 USD Millions. The top importers were the USA, the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, the UAE, Canada, and Italy.
