Design Methodology of a Wearable Thermographic System for IoT Application in Early Breast Cancer Detection

Breast cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women worldwide. Continuously monitoring of breast state is critical for effective treatment and improved patient outcomes. In this work, we propose a design methodology of a wearable thermographic system for IoT application in early breast cancer detection. The proposed system consists of a network of wearable micro-sensors that are strategically placed on a flexible board to provide comprehensive coverage of the breast area. We have performed several simulations to characterize the resolution of the micro-biosensors network before implementation. Thus, we have developed a breast phantom for validating the sensor network to demonstrate the potential of our system to detect breast tumors. Our results show that the proposed wearable system can generate thermal images of breasts with an acceptable resolution, providing a low-cost, non-invasive, and continuous monitoring solution for breast health.
