Management of Competencies in Laboratory of Cytology and Pathological Anatomy: Development and Implementation of Skill’s Matrix, Lesson Learned from Industrial Sector

To prepare the new university hospital center Mohammed VI Tangier to start with a new approach of work based on the famous quality standard, the direction management has engaged with the staff to exploit the scientific research for developing this topic. As one of the most important structures in the university hospital center, laboratory of cytology and pathological anatomy (ACP) takes part in by developing and implementing a robust quality system to meet the international standard requirements. Choosing Join Commission International (JCI) as references, provides us with the input for this paper. Our work prioritizes the “person” as well as the important pillar to succeed the implementation of the quality systems. It will be a new approach influenced by the lessons learned from the industrial sector to develop and implement a skill’s matrix named “ILUO” in order to meet the international demands of competencies of all involved team, standardize job description, and evaluate the competencies of the staff on an ongoing basis. By developing this practice, the ACP’s laboratory is now meet JCI requirements that involved the human resources and the laboratory’s leaders have a visual image about the levels of competencies of their team and they are able to measure the assessment of competencies in relation to its core skills and contributing to improve they organizational performance.
