Ethical Considerations in the Integration of Internet of Things (IoT) Technologies Within Digital Health: A Comprehensive Framework for Evaluation
摘要
The Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized digital health, enabling the seamless integration of smart devices and data-driven technologies. While IoT applications offer promising opportunities for improving patient care and healthcare outcomes, they also introduce complex ethical considerations. This paper presents a comprehensive evaluation framework for assessing the ethical implications of IoT technologies within digital health settings. The framework encompasses key dimensions, including data privacy and security, informed consent and user autonomy, algorithmic fairness and transparency, regulatory compliance and governance, as well as ethical design and development. Through a mixed-methods approach, including expert consultations, surveys, and interviews, the framework was validated and refined. By systematically addressing ethical dimensions, this evaluation framework aims to guide stakeholders in making responsible decisions, promoting the ethical integration of IoT in healthcare and safeguarding patient welfare. As IoT continues to transform the healthcare landscape, this framework serves as a valuable tool to navigate the ethical complexities and ensure a sustainable and ethically sound IoT ecosystem in digital health.
