Evaluation of Bactericidal and Virucidal Effectiveness of UV-C Lamps

In this paper, the bactericidal and virucidal efficiency of an ultraviolet-C (UV-C) lamp is evaluated by determining the distribution of the intensity of UV-C radiation emitted from a single source in an isolated test room using radiometric measurements. For this purpose, a remotely controlled robot with a measurement system was constructed with a task to take measurements of irradiance at given points with the least possible impact on the distribution of measured radiation and to ensure operator safety. The maps of radiation distribution in the room for two separate distances from the floor were prepared. The radiation intensity was referred to the time needed for disinfection. The radiation effectiveness was estimated for two different pathogenic microbes - SARS-CoV-2 virus and Escherichia coli bacteria.
