The Use of Anti – corrosion Coatings Based on 3,4 – Ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) in the Medical Industry

This paper presents the results of the deposition of coatings based on conductive polymer, poly(3,4 – ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) on X20Cr13 stainless steel to improve functional properties of metallic materials is used in medicine. The coatings were deposited using cyclic voltammetry. The obtained coatings were characterized in terms of surface morphology, thickness, roughness, and corrosion resistance. The coatings were evenly deposited over the entire surface, with no structural voids, and had very good adhesion to the steel substrate. The PEDOT and PEDOT/VTMS coatings inhibited corrosion processes in the corrosive media tested.
