摘要

Despite a rich vein of knowledge on criminological issues in the Caribbean, ‘The Palgrave Handbook of Caribbean Criminology’ is the first of its kind to focus on issues of colonialism, crime, criminology, criminal justice, offending, victimization and the colonial context crime in the Caribbean region. ‘The Palgrave Handbook of Caribbean Criminology’ is a dedicated effort aimed at ensuring the continued evolution of criminology away from its traditional Western-centric moorings to a more contemporary ontology that includes the Global South, and specifically, the Caribbean. This contemporary ontological criminology is one where the definitive markers of centre and periphery in the production and transference of criminological knowledge are whittled away and premised on the equality of inquiry. ‘The Palgrave Handbook of Caribbean Criminology’ is also a treasure trove of information on criminological issues, their impacts on the Caribbean region and efforts at mitigation. The Handbook is essential reading for established and emerging scholars, students, legislators, laypersons and practitioners of criminal justice in the Caribbean.
