The Dynamics of Firearms Trafficking in the Caribbean

Five of the twelve most murderous countries in the world are in the Caribbean. About 80% of these murders are committed with firearms, virtually all imported. This raises important questions as to why these countries have struggled to develop effective strategies to reduce violence. This chapter gives an overview of the dynamics of firearm trafficking, as well as challenges and potential solutions to the issue of firearms violence in the Caribbean.
