News and Stories from the Multilingual World

Seven vignettes, seven imagined and dramatized situations are presented here. Each is a probe of the multilingual condition, and evidently many more such probes might be taken.—Philosophy seeks to articulate the spirit of the times and how we are in the world. So, how then are we in these multilingual worlds, what kind of understanding and reflection do these seven situations afford? This small collection is only at its beginning, as is the philosophy of multilingualism. It issues two invitations. The first invitation is to use each of the following scenarios as a platform or workshop, that is, as an occasion for trying out concepts, theories, or approaches to multilingualism. The second invitation is to expand this collection by adding salient moments, poignant scenes, further stories from the multilingual world.
