Encouraging Great Reviewing Practices
摘要
This chapter focuses on the issues associated with developing an appropriate culture and process for the reviewing of manuscripts. Consistent reviewing practices contribute to the reputation of a journal in ways that will help to establish its reputation. Editors need to consider very carefully what kinds of reviewer behaviour they seek to encourage or discourage. For instance, at the journals I edit I emphasise the importance of constructive reviewing that is critical and thorough, yet also polite. Getting the right tone of the language that is used to communicate with different stakeholders is critical, and warrants careful attention.
