A Comparative Analysis of ChatGPT and Google in Educational Settings: Understanding the Influence of Mediators on Learning Platform Adoption
摘要
Technological advancements have revolutionized educational methodologies, introducing a variety of tools from interactive digital platforms to VR simulations, thereby reshaping traditional learning environments into more dynamic and inclusive spaces. Among these innovations, ChatGPT emerges as a notable AI technology, offering tailored learning experiences through custom feedback and explanations. This is in contrast to Google, another prevalent information and explanation source, necessitating a comparative study of their impacts in education. This research seeks to assess the effectiveness of ChatGPT and Google as educational tools, examining their differences from various angles. The study utilizes a PLS-SEM model, analyzed with data from 122 university students in the UAE. Findings reveal that ChatGPT’s user acceptance is significantly influenced by factors like information and system quality, perceived learning value, and satisfaction. These elements are key in determining the adoption of ChatGPT, although some model aspects were found to be non-predictive of its usage. Despite this, the study enriches the body of knowledge on AI's role in environmental sustainability and offers critical insights for stakeholders in AI development. These insights are instrumental in aligning AI technology development with user needs and environmental considerations.
