It Starts in Elementary School: Working to Dismantle Inequitable and Racist Practices in Formal Educational Spaces

摘要

This chapter answers the question: How is anti-racism work being implemented in the workplace? In this context, the workplace is the university classroom, as I prepare pre-service teachers to enter their future workplaces, ready to face issues of racism and injustice head-on and act as transformative educators. Issues of educational inequities have been present in society ever since the inception of formal schooling and it will take transformation in teacher preparation programs in order for real change to happen in PK-12 classrooms.
