The Mediating Effect of Academic Performance on ChatGPT Satisfaction in University Students
摘要
The study's main objective is to evaluate the mediating effect of academic performance on university students’ satisfaction with using ChatGPT, a text-based artificial intelligence tool. Four independent variables are analyzed: Creativity, Information Acquisition Efficiency, Linguistic competence, and Writing Competence. As a work methodology, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses are used to validate the model, and then a model based on structural equations is proposed. The sample consisted of 389 university students who used ChatGPT in an educational context from April to June 2023. The findings suggest that, although creativity and writing proficiency did not significantly impact academic performance, information acquisition efficiency and linguistic proficiency positively affected it. Academic performance effectively mediates between these variables and student satisfaction with ChatGPT. The results highlight the value of ChatGPT as an educational tool and suggest that by improving the efficiency with which students acquire information and develop language skills, their academic performance and, ultimately, their satisfaction with the tool can be increased. However, more research is needed to fully explore and understand the utility of ChatGPT in varied educational contexts and its impact on higher education.
