Public Voices and Evaluation of the Suggested Urban Methodology

This chapter reviews public voices regarding the findings in YazdYazd (Fig. 8.1). The overall aim is to learn to what extent the designed methodology examined in Yazd could reveal local hidden voicesHidden voices about their living places and city as a whole. In this chapter, the result of a public seminar organized in YazdYazd is presented followed by reviewing a letter signed by some locals, which was received after the close of the seminar. The chapter then continues as to how traditional IranianIranian cities were transferred, in a manner of speaking, from poetryPoetry dwellingDwelling to proseProse dwellingDwelling, and why Yazd is of a specific and diverse urban developmentUrban developments compared to other major traditional Iranian cities; poetryPoetry, poetryPoetry-proseProse, and proseProse dwellings. Finally, the chapter suggests a ‘narrative-ethnographic-grounded’ approach for analysing traditional Iranian cities while indicating the weaknesses and strengths of the proposed approach followed by future recommendations.
