Critical Comparison of Findings in Fahadan, Nersi/Nasr-Abad, and Safaieh

In this chapter, the data gathered from the selected cases in YazdYazd are compared and analysed (Fig 7.1). The chapter aims to decipher to what extent the methodology used in this research illustrates current urban issues, as well as inhabitants’ needs and aspirations. As discussed in the methodology chapter, both quantitative and qualitative data were collected, which resulted in the completion of more than 400 questionnaires and interviews along with anecdotal and ethnographical discoveries. Throughout this chapter, the collected data is analysed within three categories. In each category, certain cultural issues, as well as the deficiency of some urban facilitiesUrban facilities and their effects on the social and physical fabrics of YazdYazd are highlighted followed by suggestions for future urban planning and design of the city regarding these identified issues. Then, the significance of socio-culturalSocio-cultural interrelationships existing throughout Yazd is argued. Finally, the chapter reviews some locals’ opinions with regard to the physical transformation of Yazd followed by the result of citizen participationCitizen participation in testing the current plan of Yazd.
