FDI. The Party of the Third Generation

The MSI youth organizations have, at different times, harboured unconventional viewpoints in relation to the party leadership (Chiarini 2011; Carioti 2011). As detailed in previous chapters, during the early 1950s, they were influenced by the anti-Atlanticist Evolian faction and the ‘socializers’ on the left. Between 1954 and 1956, Michelini took steps to rein them in by appointing leaders he trusted.
