Treatment of Atopic Dermatitis with Phototherapy
摘要
Phototherapy is an effective and safe treatment option for patients with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis who have failed topical treatments. Ultraviolet B (UVB) phototherapy can also be used safely in pediatric, pregnant, and nursing populations. In this chapter, we will discuss the mechanism of action of phototherapy and review the safety and efficacy of broadband UVB (BB-UVB), NB-UVB, Goeckerman regimen (coal tar and UVB), excimer laser, psoralen and UVA (PUVA), and combination therapy with phototherapy for AD. We will also review the risk of skin cancer with phototherapy. Lastly, home phototherapy will be reviewed.
