AD and Psychodermatology/Quality of Life
摘要
Atopic dermatitis (AD) can have a profound impact on an individual’s physical, emotional, and social well-being. Patients with AD have a higher prevalence of mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, and even thoughts of self-harm. Additionally, uncontrolled pruritus and the discomfort associated with atopic dermatitis can lead to sleep disturbance, which can worsen all of these factors. Stress and mental health symptoms can cause a vicious cycle with atopic dermatitis symptoms. Therefore, dermatology providers need to assess and monitor quality of life and mental health symptoms in atopic dermatitis patients. Effective treatment and management are essential for improving quality of life for those affected by atopic dermatitis.
