Treatment of Pediatric AD

  • Regina-Celeste Ahmad

摘要

Severe pediatric atopic dermatitis (AD) is often undertreated due to lack of access to appropriate specialty care and provider/caregiver concerns regarding use of systemic immunosuppressant medications in young patients. However, the medical management options for pediatric AD have evolved significantly in the past few years allowing for more targeted and effective systemic treatments. This chapter reviews both the current FDA-approved medications for pediatric atopic dermatitis and data for the newer systemic treatments in the pediatric population. Both dupilumab and the oral Janus kinase inhibitors have shown great promise as relatively safe and effective therapies for severe pediatric AD, with additional targeted therapies in the pipeline.
