Balancing Loyalty and Honesty: Nurturing Moral Competence Through Dilemmas
摘要
This chapter aims to delve into the potential of using educational moral dilemmas as a strategy for cultivating moral competence in children and young adults. The chapter is organized into three sections. The first section provides a theoretical foundation for employing educational moral dilemmas, drawing on the moral psychology frameworks established by Piaget, Kohlberg, and Lind. The second section focuses on the values selected to form the dilemmas, specifically loyalty and honesty, as dilemmas that challenge these values are commonplace in situations experienced by children, young adults, and even adults. The third section offers two dilemma scenarios involving these values along with potential arguments tailored to different stages of Kohlberg's framework. The chapter concludes with a proposal for conducting dilemmas based on the methodology developed by Lind (2018).
