Hausdorff’s Life during the Nazi Dictatorship

As recounted in the preceding chapter, the years in Bonn up until 1933 were happy ones for Felix Hausdorff and his family. Largely sheltered from the hardships of the Great Depression, they went about their lives never really imagining how swiftly everything in their seemingly stable little world would come crashing down. Hitler’s National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP or Nazi Party) had a clear vision for the future of Germany. One did not need to have read Mein Kampf to recognize that the twin pillars of the Nazi movement were German national expansionism and antisemitism.
