In 2.4, it was shown that, when compared to other types of depletants, rod-like colloids give rise to a strong depletion interaction at low concentration (2.124)). As a result, it is also expected that even adding a small amount of rods to a dispersion of colloidal spheres has a significant effect on the phase behaviour.
