Considerations on Delta Functions
摘要
We already assessed Einstein’s mathematical proficiency with respect to projective geometry and variational calculus. In this chapter, we also account for Einstein’s mathematical competence regarding delta functions—a notion that had been introduced by Dirac and was later used by Einstein on further manuscript pages. Einstein’s engagement with delta functions fits to his program of finding particle-like solutions for his five-dimensional field equations. In this chapter, we analyze the respective working sheets as well as further correspondence.
