Thin Beams: Applications

  • Edward B. Magrab

摘要

The results of Chap. 3 are used to obtain the beam’s response to in-span transient and harmonic forces and to transient and harmonic displacements at one of its boundaries. These responses are obtained for beams with and without single degree-of-freedom systems and inerters. When the single degree-of-freedom system or inerter is included the efficacy of their respective configuration as a tuned vibration absorberVibration absorber is examined. The response of a beam to a moving mass is obtained. Coupled bending and torsion are considered and a relation from which the onset of flutter can be determined is presented. In addition, the following are determined: the interaction of a beam and a fluid, the stability of a beam conveying a fluid, the output power of a layered piezoelectric beam energy harvesterPowerpiezoelectric energy harvester, and the band gap phenomena in a metamaterial comprising a finite length beam.
