Design and Implementation of Photovoltaic Energy Storage Systems Based on Batteries of Hybrid Cars Using a Second- Life Method

摘要

This article presents the process carried out to implement an isolated photovoltaic system, for which high voltage (HV) batteries from hybrid Toyota PRIUS Model vehicles were used. These pieces of equipment correspond to nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) cell types, with cells connected in a series grouped in a module of 20 or 28 cells that provide approximately 144 to 201.6 VDC. Four monocrystalline solar panels were connected in parallel generating an estimated power of 2200 W, a voltage of 40.98 V and a current of 53.68 A. For load control, a 3 KVA and a 24 V hybrid inverter were used. In the first test, the entire consumer load was connected and the system generated around 325 W. Battery autonomy was for 0.83 h, that is, 50 min and, by reducing the consumption loads, the autonomy increased.
