The Future of Sustainable Tourism and Beyond

This chapter presents a review of the theoretical reflection on the evolution of the paradigm of sustainability over the decades and how this has influenced tourism practices and policies. A focus will be related to new keywords in the evolution of sustainability discourses when entangled with global multiple crises, such as climate change, environmental pollution and loss of biodiversity in relationship with tourism: net-zero, net-positive and regenerative tourism considered possible guides for the ecological transition of economic activities in the current and coming years.
