摘要

This article presents on the development and validation of a safety reporting behaviour instrument in Small and Medium Entreprise (SME) in Malaysia. The literature indicates that reporting adverse events at the workplace is crucial to prevent accidents, injuries, and even fatalities. However, existing scales used to measure safety reporting have some gaps that render them problematic. Hence, in this study, we developed and validated a new scale of employee safety reporting behaviour that is applicable to a wider context. The expert judgement method involved interviews with 13 safety and health officers in checking the content and face validity of the items. The results of content and construct validity indicate all items developed are relevant to measure the safety reporting behaviour and the most significant contribution to the new safety reporting behaviour scale particulary in SMEs context.
