Economic Impact of Employment Generation Policies in India and Rural Poverty Alleviation: An Analytical Review

The core aim of this paper is to analyse the various programmes and policy relating to employment generation and to emphasise on its economic impact. Based on the performance of these programmes and policies of the union government enhanced the employment opportunities and alleviate poverty among the rural poor. This paper is organized in a systematics manner with three broad segments. The first section of the paper brings out the introductory note, the second segment of gives the paper structure, objectives and the purpose of the study. The third and the final section narrates the analysis, findings and concluding remarks of the paper. The data related to progress and achievements of the employment generation programmes are analysed and compared with other selected programmes. The relevant information has been collected from various published sources from ministry of labour and ministry of rural development. The collected information has been listed in the review section and the data has been tabulated and analysed in the analysis section. The highest employment opportunities have been created through SHGs with the help of employment generation programmes. Many states such as West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat states are well utilized this programme for better employment generation and removal of poverty.
