The Development Status and Trends of Chinese Express Delivery Packaging in a Green and Low-Carbon Context

The rapid development of Chinese express delivery industry not only provides convenience for people, but also produces a large amount of packaging waste, which brings great pressure to society and the environment. This paper analyses the current status of Chinese express delivery packaging through literature review and field research. The results indicate that traditional cardboard boxes and plastic bags still dominate the packaging materials in Chinese express delivery industry, resulting in low recycling rates and issues of resource waste and environmental pollution. Although some green low-carbon packaging materials and recyclable express boxes are gradually introduced into the express packaging, their widespread application is hindered by various cost factors. In the green and low-carbon environment, promoting the green transformation of express delivery packaging is an inevitable trend. Government improvements in legislation, technological innovation in materials, standardized packaging for express delivery, establishment of recycling systems, and raising consumer environmental awareness will all become important drivers for the green transformation of Chinese express delivery packaging, thereby promoting its sustainable development.
